The Clearfield Production System combines high-yielding seeds with broad-spectrum herbicides tailored to regional conditions, delivering efficient, long-lasting weed control, crop quality and global market acceptance. In 2003, in cooperation with leading global and regional seed partners, BASF introduced sunflowers into the growing family of successful Clearfield Production System crops that included canola/oilseed rape, maize, rice and wheat. Within a few years, the Clearfield Production System for sunflower had become known as an essential component in hybrid sunflower oil and confectionary production.

    Treated?

    They advertise these as treated but there is no color on the seed. Last year they were blue. I called and they said it was treated but no color this year. Does that sound right? I feel like they are normal black oil seeds.

    Bad seed?

    Ordered the Clearfield sunflower seed. Prior to planting, kept the seed packaged, indoors temp controlled. Prepped dirt as well as we ever have. Two row planter at the right depth. Perfectly timed rain right after planting. Fertilized, pre-emergent spray. Expecting an above average crop… We got 20-30% germination at best. Been doing this quite a while and can’t think of anything but bad seed

    Sunflower seed

    I planted theses sunflower seeds may 13 2024. We plowed, disked and planted with a 2 row planter. The most beautiful field we have ever done. 2 acres. As of today June 3, 2024. Not one seed has germinated. What a disappointment that after all this hard work, and money spent on seed and herbicide, that we will not be dove hunting this year. At the least, I would like a refund on my seed and herbicide.

    Sunflower

    I was not aware of Zone in my area. Buying seeds I thought will provide me with flowers without knowing when to sow (season), direct to the ground or seedlings and what is native to my zone, ( did a research and indicated I'm in zone 9 another say zone 10, just retired from working at 75 years old. now i have the time to plant flowers, fruit trees and veggies. I suggest you include info re: these issues. Seeds are okay but is it the right one in my zone?
