Use a high phosphorous fertilizer and apply at 200 to 300 lbs./acre
The best all-around warm season food plot seed mix on the market for deer plus a range of wildlife. The biology is simple, the more nutrition a buck gets, the chances are greater in that buck reaching his full genetic potential. Contains Tecomate® Lablab for antlergrowing/fawning nutrition plus some of the most nutritious and preferred peas and beans in the world including our own vining cowpeas. Premium milo/sorghum and sunflowers act as a screen for peas and beans during the first weeks of growth producing large seeds favored by deer. This blend is less vulnerable to grazing pressure than single cultivars. Lablab Plus also provides food and cover for game birds.
THE “TRIPLE THREAT” OF SUMMER NUTRITION
LABLAB PLUS is an ingenious mixture of Lablab beans, Ebony peas and White Grain Milo and offers the “triple threat” of whitetail nutrition: high protein, fat and carbohydrates. Lablab is a proven, stand alone summer annual food plot for the most hot and arid of growing conditions. However, as the Tecomate Seed business evolved we put our agronomist to work on developing a mixture that could be established in smaller plots. White Grain Milo provides a quick establishing shelter and trellising plant for the Lablab and Ebony plants. The hybrid grain heads provide a high energy feed for game birds and deer once they reach maturity. The Ebony (black-seeded pea, proprietary to Tecomate) is an indeterminate seeder, meaning it produces bushels of highly desirable and nutritious peas while it continues to produce tons of high quality forage. Ebony has also been noted to establish quicker in cooler soil temperatures than Lablab, which aids in plant protection. This food plot may be left standing throughout the fall to provide nutrition and attraction in the bow and rifle seasons. Ideal for zones 3 & 4.
- Protein content: 26% to 32%

- Grows anywhere cowpeas/soybeans are grown
- Food plot Seed for deer, turkey, and game birds
- Provides cover for daytime feeding activity

LABLAB PLUS PLANTING SUGGESTIONS
- Plant in a sunny location that has been disked to create a clean, level and firm seedbed.
- Tecomate recommends liming if the pH is below 5.8 and fertilizing with a phosphorous heavy fertilizer at the rate of 200 to 300 pounds per acre. Inoculating with Cowpea Inoculant will improve nitrogen fixation.
- No-till drill, cultivate and broadcast or cultivate and drill seed. Plant at a rate of 22 pounds per acre. When broadcasting, cover seed by dragging, cultipacking or lightly disking. Plant 1 to 2 inches deep in good moisture. Plant when ground temperature is above 68 degrees F.
- Lablab can be adversely affected by early grazing pressure during the first 3 to 4 weeks. This vulnerability can be overcome by planting enough acreage to disperse early pressure, by temporarily fencing off young plants or by using an effective deer deterrent. After 4 weeks, Lablab can withstand the heaviest grazing pressure.
